A significant day in the world of ballet
In 2004, Boris Eifman composed a one-act performance "Musaget" for the New York City Ballet - a dedication to the famous choreographer. That same year, the production took its place in the repertoire of the choreographer's own troupe, and in 2019 it was presented in a new edition at the Boris Eifman Dance Academy Theater.
Boris Eifman said that the performance is dedicated to the great choreographer Balanchine. He expresses his admiration for the great choreographer, this is his tribute to the Russian ballet and to the one who brilliantly developed and improved the traditions of Russian ballet and made the evolution of dance from the 19th to the 21st century truly possible.
"Musaget" is not a biographical ballet, but it traces the personality of the choreographer, whose life was spent in the ballet hall, where everything is subordinated to creativity, and creativity is inspired by his fate. Boris Eifman immersed himself in the world of his ballets and was amazed by both the personality of Balanchine himself and the charm of his works.
