Boris Eifman's ballet Crime and Punishment, inspired by the novel of the same name by F. M. Dostoevsky, invites viewers to NOVAT for a unique journey into the world of philosophical and intellectual ideas. The stage of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater (NOVAT) will present the tour of the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theater of Boris Eifman. This event is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Federal Directorate of Music and Festival Programs «ROSCONCERT» as part of the program «Big Tours 2025».
The production, created to the music of Gustav Mahler and Boris Tishchenko, recreates the difficult path of spiritual rebirth of Rodion Raskolnikov. The sets by Zinovy Margolin, costumes by Olga Shaishmelashvili and lighting design by Gleb Filshtinsky and Boris Eifman create an atmosphere in which the passions and metaphysical contradictions of Dostoevsky's characters come to life.
